Fresh and Simple Guacamole

Fresh and Simple Guacamole
I have to confess that I’ve made this guacamole recipe a few times. The problem is that I’m usually whipping it up so fast I forget to take pictures of all the steps. Now, I think I have enough pictures to piece together for a blog post. I just made this for a Cinco de Mayo potluck and quadrupled the recipe. I rarely have leftovers. I remember one time that I was making batches as fast as people were eating it. This is a good basic recipe for guacamole. The avocado, lime, garlic, and cilantro flavors meld and soar together in this simple recipe. However, depending on who you are serving (kids, adults, or a combination) feel free to add more or less of the basic ingredients, and any or all of the optional list.

Fresh and Simple Guacamole
4 ripe avocados
1 lime, juiced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 handful of fresh cilantro leaves, minced
Sea salt

Other great ingredients to add to taste
1/4 cup of red onion, minced (optional)
tomato, diced (optional)
1 jalapeno, seeded and minced (optional)
chili powder (optional)
cumin (optional)
cayenne pepper (optional)

Note: More often I keep it simple with the main ingredients listed and I always get so many compliments and recipe requests.

1. Cut avocados in half vertically from stem to bottom circling around the pit. Twist the two halves apart.

2. Carefully strike the avocado seed with the blade of the knife.

3. Twist and lift the knife to remove the seed.

4. Use a large spoon to scoop out the avocado into a bowl.

5. Mince the cilantro and garlic clove, and add the juice of the lime to the avocado mixture.

6. Mix the guacamole with a fork until you reach the consistency that you like. I like my guacamole chunky, but if you prefer it completely smooth you can use an immersion blender to make it smooth. Add salt to taste.

  • Oh, fresh guacamole is the only way to enjoy guacamole in my opinion! 🙂 Thank you so much for linking up with me this week at Tasty Tuesdays! I’ve pinned this & shared it with my followers! Please be sure to stop back by the party and check out some of the other links!

  • It is my pleasure to be the major beneficiary of all things Nutrivore Life. As Michele’s husband, I am honored and delighted to enjoy all these recipes. Recently, Michele was out of town and I needed something to take a party. Knowing that whenever Michele has made this Fresh and Simple Guac recipe in the past, people always comment on how fresh and delicious it tastes. So, I set off to make it on my own. It was as advertised – fresh and simple. Well done, sweetheart. The recipe was easy to follow and the appetizer was extremely well received. It probably still would have been better if you had prepared it :-), but all were well served. Thanks love – I am proud of you and grateful to and for you. Be Well

  • The simple recipe is wonderful. For me, though, I want the kit AND the caboodle, so the whole kitchen sink goes into the guacamole for me. Mmmmmm, SO good! It has just the right balance of bite and smoothness that it’s perfect.

    • Of course! You can just use this as a base and add what ever you want. That’s the beauty of guacamole. This particular combination is the family favorite and gets so many comments from our guests. Any homemade guacamole is better than store bought and is worth the extra effort! Thanks Debbie!
      Love,
      Michele

  • This guac is off the chain. You can easily pick out all of the different flavors, but none of them overpowers the rest. It’s perfect with chips for a summer party–but I could eat it alone by the spoonful 🙂 Thanks, Michelle!

    • Thanks for taking the time to comment, Kendall! Be prepared for all the compliments when you take it to parties. It never fails to please.
      Be well,
      Michele
