- 30 ounce tomato sauce canned (1 large 28 to 30 oz or 2 small 15 oz cans).
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion diced small
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup red wine (burgandy, chianti, pinot noir, or merlot)
Heat olive oil in large sauce pot on medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes then add onions and cook until translucent (about 4 minutes).
Add pressed garlic and cook an additional 30 seconds to one minute, stirring to make sure onions and garlic do not brown.
Add tomato sauce, sugar (optional), salt, oregano, basil, red wine, and simmer on low uncovered for 30 minutes. Serve with your favorite pasta, zoodles, or meatballs.
