Cuisine American
- 1 pound ground chuck (fine if a little over a pound)
- 1/2 medium onion diced small
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- salt and pepper to taste
- 8 ounces tomato sauce (1 small can)
Gather all of the ingredients ground Chuck, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and a mixing bowl. Preheat oven to 350F. Chop onion into a small dice.
Place all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Combine all of the ingredients (without over mixing) and form into an oval and place into a casserole dish that has a lid. Place in the oven without the lid for 35 to 45 minutes or until nicely browned.
Once the meatloaf is nicely browned, bake the meatloaf with the lid for another 15 minutes. Don't skip this step because it makes the meatloaf tender and moist.
Carefully scrape the ooze off the top, drain the grease, and if necessary use a paper towel to absorb any remaining fat. Pour tomato sauce over over the meatloaf, and cover.
Bake another 5 to 7 minutes with the lid to heat and set the sauce. Serve slices with a spoonful of sauce and your favorite sides.
